“Although we focus equally on technologies and needs, our priority is basing decisions on requirements” says Tofaş Data Science Leader Şirin Altıok, who considers the Business Intelligence solution they have implemented an important step towards optimizing data usage. Şirin Altıok has indicated that they wish to make Tofaş a data company and all its employees data experts.
We searched for a Self-Service Reporting solution, which we call the 3rd Generation Business Intelligence Solution, due to factors like time-consuming project developments, our inability to respond quickly to urgent needs, our reliance on technology units for business unit analysis needs, high consulting costs, and a lack of visual analysis. Following completion of the POCs, we have seen that Qlik Sense is the product that best meets our requirements.”
In its projects, Tofaş uses the Qlik Sense and NPrinting products offered by the Qlik group
The Qlik Sense product provides more detailed data analysis with dashboards that allow top-management and the Sales, After-Sales, Purchasing, Quality, Connectivity, R&D, Supply Chain, HR, Manufacturing and Finance departments to monitor employees’ KPIs and performance goals.
With the NPrinting product, the required authorizations were provided and the necessary infrastructure enabled the emailing of reports to the relevant departments and external stakeholders including dealers and service providers.
“As of now, we are actively using approximately 120 applications and around 400 report pages actively. And the numbers keep increasing every day” says Şirin Altıok, adding that Tofaş operates an environment that uses not only reports that summarize historical or instant data, but also artificial intelligence models that make predictions and she continues: “Our Business Intelligence processes are also integrated to support these technologies. For this purpose we also use Qlik Sense for data science projects undertaken by Tofaş. By integrating R and Phyton codes using Qlik Sense, we can generate instant or Batch predictions and improve our decision-making support processes with dashboards that can analyze both historical and projected data. We are extremely proud of the fact that our Cost Estimation Project for Warranties, one of our data science projects, won first prize at the 2019 International Quality Awards hosted by CQI in London.”
Visualization of data has been our greatest achievement
Şirin Altıok has stated the following regarding the benefits of using Qlik products across their group: “The greatest benefit of Qlik Sense has been the visualization of data that has brought speed to our processes and optimized the customer experience. In a short period of time, we began to complete large tasks with less work. By using drag-drop and view elements, business units are able to quickly satisfy their data-driven decision-making demands. We no longer work with file-based reports that are both complicated and prone to errors. Starting with the POC process, we have developed a partnership with Bl Technology based on trust. They are always available with their technically competent and experienced team of consultants.”
Emphasizing Qlik Sense’s efficiency in providing speedy responses and delivering a superb customer experience, Altıok said it was one of the key tools they are now using for realizing their goal of creating added value and for taking strategic decisions at a top-management level. Moreover, she stated that their goal for the coming period was to take further action to put Qlik Sense to use across the company and to continue on their path with new business intelligence and data science project.
