Halkbank, which transforms data into a common working language across the institution, is taking its digital transformation to a new level with its artificial intelligence and self-service analytics investments. Thanks to the ARP-Smart Reporting Platform developed with BI Technology, the bank develops a more agile and data driven approach in decision making processes while spreading analytical capability throughout the institution.
Can you provide information about your institution’s technology approach and your Business Intelligence Applications? What place do Business Intelligence solutions have within your institution?
As Halkbank, we position technology as a strategic lever that improves the banking experience end to end. We closely follow the changes in financial technologies and continuously invest in this field. We adopt a participatory innovation approach that places data at the center, supports rapid action and includes the user in the process.
Business intelligence solutions form one of the most critical components of this approach. With ARP-Smart Reporting Platform (Self-Service Reporting and Analytics Platform), we have turned our analytical focus into a decision support mechanism actively used by everyone. In this context, while integrating our artificial intelligence and LLM based capabilities, we proceed by observing banking data security, data privacy and regulatory compliance at the highest level.
Thanks to this structure, we have built not only centralized reporting, but also a platform where business units can quickly and flexibly produce analyses suitable for their own needs. Today, in the structure we use with thousands of active users and hundreds of developers, more than 85% of the developed panels are created directly by our business units. This ratio clearly shows that data production has spread from the center to the field and that the self-service analytics culture has been institutionally adopted.
In an institution like Halkbank, which has a broad customer base, how do data analytics solutions contribute to decision making processes?
In a wide service network that touches every point of Türkiye, data analytics solutions mean being able to see the big picture within seconds for us. Our data sets have always been systematic and strong; however, we were aiming for a structure that works faster, is suitable for analysis and supports live data. With ARP, in addition to reaching all these goals, we succeeded in transforming data into actionable insights.
Today, our business units have a perspective that not only consumes data, but also interprets and directs it. Especially on the sales, credit and customer management side, we can take much faster action in the field with near-real-time tracking capability. Analyses of investment and treasury products and the dynamic monitoring of audit indicators are among the concrete examples of this transformation. This structure strengthened our proactive and target-oriented approach in the field.
Data analytics and business intelligence solutions play an important role in Halkbank’s digital transformation process. In this context, how did your collaboration with BI Technology affect your way of working?
We see digital transformation not only as a technological renewal, but as an ecosystem journey built with the right business partners. ARP, which we brought to life through our collaboration with BI Technology, initiated a deep-rooted ‘data culture’ transformation. I can summarize this process in terms of our way of doing business under two main axes:
- Democratization of Data: We brought reporting processes, which were previously gathered in a central structure and proceeded upon request, to the front of our branches and regions with ARP. Now, instead of waiting for a central report, our teams access the data they need through their own interactive panels. This has significantly increased our operational speed.
- Transition from Monitoring to Questioning: ARP’s discovery-oriented structure transformed the habit of “looking at data” for our colleagues in the field into the skill of “analyzing data.” Now they do not only see the numbers, they can question the reasons behind those numbers.
As a result, thanks to this technological bridge we established with BI Technology; we evolved into an organization that does not only consume data, but produces strategy by using data. We are successfully building a fully “data-driven” working model across the levels of our bank.
How have the investments in this field reflected on data-driven decision-making processes and customer experience?
The most concrete output of our investments in ARP is that it has made data the common language of our units in our bank. The abundance of panels shaped by the valuable experiences and efforts of business units is an indicator of how accurately this investment has found a cultural response.
On the customer experience side, this is reflected as personalized speed. Thanks to ARP, our colleagues in the field can instantly analyze our customers’ financial journey and offer the right solutions exactly when they need them. Our data-driven decision-making approach has made it easier for us to set assumptions aside and act with facts, accelerating our efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What will Halkbank’s priorities be in the field of data analytics and business intelligence in the coming period?
In the coming period, our main priority is to further deepen the strong momentum we have achieved with ARP in our bank’s data-driven transformation journey throughout the institution. In this direction, we will continue to increase our self-service developer capabilities and make acting with data an institutional reflex.
On our technological agenda, artificial intelligence-supported analyses, LLM integrations and automatic insight generation will be at the forefront. With these innovative steps, we plan to take our analytical capacity to the next level.
Our aim is to take data out of being a mirror of the past and use it as the architecture of the future. By blending our bank’s deep-rooted experience with the power of data; we aim to make data the fastest advisor beside every employee and the strongest compass beneath every strategy.
