In order to visualize what gender equality and gender inequality looks like globally, Speros Kokenes, the developer of this application, decided to compile and incorporate World Development Indicators collected, provided, and made publicly available by the World Bank Group, a family of five international organizations that make leveraged loans to developing countries.
This group has set two major goals for the world to achieve by 2030: to end extreme poverty and to promote shared prosperity (The World Bank Group, 2013). The objective of this project is to visually analyze gender inequality in the world based on key indicators to facilitate discovery of patterns and trends that may influence public policy.
